Our Story
OUR STORY
In 1961 our church was planted in southeast Fresno as a mission church by the California Southern Baptist Convention. The church was known as Templo Bautista. They had a clear vision of sharing the Gospel message and were committed to do it locally and globally. They purchased the property which is still currently on the corner of Cedar and Woodward. Over the years the church grew in numbers and the church built its first sanctuary.
Years later under the leadership of Pastor Daniel Sotelo, the church raised the money to build a larger sanctuary. The church family was so committed to seeing the new sanctuary erected that every member of the church actively participated in the construction of it. As of today, it is still the sanctuary which we hold our worship services both in English and Spanish. During this time the church name was changed to El Encino. The church continued to grow and was considered a flagship church in our state.
In late August of 2019, El Encino called Pastor Moises Garcia to be their new Lead Pastor. Our new pastor shared the vision he was led by God to present to the church. This vision of loving God, loving each other and loving our community to see new lives come to faith in Jesus Christ led to changing our name to New Life Baptist Church / Iglesia Bautista Nueva Vida. We are committed to faithfully carrying out our God given vision and mission. As of today, we have seen people make the decision to believe and receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior as well as taking the step of obedience of being baptized. With the Lord's help and guidance, we will see many people become committed and mature followers of Jesus Christ.

About Us
New Life Baptist Church is a dynamic church located in Fresno , CA. Our beliefs are based on the Bible and centered on Jesus Christ. Our mission is very simple: Love God, love each other and love our community. As we come together in our worship gatherings, we will model what it means to love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength. We will love, encourage and serve each other as members of the body of Christ. We will love unconditionally our community as we engage them and share with them the transformational message of God's grace and his love for them. God alone will be glorified as we consistently fulfill the mission. He has given our church.
SERVING THOSE IN NEED: One of our core values is to serve just as Jesus did and modeled to his disciples. At New Life, we are committed in serving those in our community as well as those in our church family. As you begin to serve, you will experience one of the greatest joys in life is to serve others with love.

GOD
We believe in one God, Creator of all, holy, sovereign, eternal, existing in three equal Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
JESUS CHRIST
We believe in the absolute and essential deity of our Lord Jesus Christ
In His eternal existence, with the Father in pre-incarnate glory
In His work of creation, in His virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death and bodily resurrection
In His triumphant ascension, mediatorial ministry and personal return
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the absolute and essential deity, and in the personality of the Holy Spirit
Who convinces of sin, of righteousness and of judgment
Who regenerates, indwells, seals, sanctifies, illuminates and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ
Who baptizes believers at conversion into the Body of Christ and bestows upon them His gifts sovereignly as He wills and fills those yielded to Him
MANKIND
We believe that Adam was divinely created in the image of God
That by the sin of disobedience he fell from that state
That all his posterity inherited spiritual depravity and defilement
That all men therefore are guilty before God and condemned to physical and spiritual death
SALVATION
We believe that salvation is by the sovereign grace of God
That by the Father, Christ voluntarily suffered a propitiatory death
That justification is by faith alone in the all-sufficient sacrifice and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ
That those whom God has effectually called shall be divinely preserved and ultimately perfected in the image of the Lord
