Faithful Feet

Faithful Feet is an annual event we have here at New Life that gives elementary school children the opportunity to receive resources they may need as the school year begins.

Our volunteers start by washing every child's feet, exemplifying how we are here to serve, just like how Jesus served. Next, we let the children in the building in groups so they can freely choose their shoes. Next, we have a haircut station, where the children can choose from our list of pre-approved haircuts. We also have a hotdog station where families will be able to prepare and eat their hotdogs together. We will have a reptile show to entertain the children, bounce houses, face painting, community resources for the family, and a gospel presentation so the children can learn about Jesus.

Fieles Pieles es un evento anual que organizamos aquí en Nueva Vida para brindar a los niños de primaria la oportunidad de recibir recursos que puedan necesitar al comenzar el año escolar.

Nuestros voluntarios comienzan lavando los pies de cada niño, ejemplificando así nuestra vocación de servicio, tal como lo hizo Jesús. A continuación, permitimos que los niños ingresen al edificio en grupos para que puedan elegir libremente sus zapatos. Luego, contamos con una estación de corte de cabello donde los niños pueden elegir entre una lista de estilos preaprobados. También disponemos de una estación de hot dogs donde las familias pueden prepararlos y disfrutarlos juntos. Además, ofreceremos un espectáculo de reptiles para entretener a los niños, castillos inflables, pintura facial, información sobre recursos comunitarios para las familias y una presentación del Evangelio para que los niños puedan conocer a Jesús.

FAQ/Preguntas Frecuentes

What time does the event start?
Distribution of shoes begins at 10:00AM but we suggest you arrive earlier to get a good spot in line & beat the heat.
How does my child get a free pair of shoes?
1. In order for your child to receive their free pair of shoes, they must be present and in line at the time the shoe distribution begins.

2. Before entering our building, they will sit in a chair where one of our volunteers will wash & dry their feet as Jesus did with the disciples and place brand new socks on them.

3. Only the children receiving a new pair of shoes are welcome to come inside the building and choose what pair of sneakers they would like. Although we understand that you would like to help your child pick a new pair for school, we kindly ask all parents to remain outside during the time your child picks their new favorite pair of shoes. The building is very small so you will still be able to keep a very close eye on them during this process.
How does my child get their free haircut?
1. As soon as you exit our shoe distribution building, you will be able to see our haircut room across the building.

2. We kindly ask that you wait in line & take a look at the haircut options we have available for your child.

3. Before entering the room, our volunteer will ask what haircut option you would like for your child & place a number sticker on them for the stylists to view.
Can I ask for a custom hairstyle not seen on the option list?
Although we wish we could take your custom haircut requests, we are only offering what is available on our option list to allow our stylists to help out as many kids as possible with the time they have been given. Custom requests tend to take much longer, which decreases the amount of kids we can help out during our short 4 hour time frame. We appreciate your understanding.
Does my child need to get both a haircut and shoes?
Absolutely not, you can choose to get only new shoes or only a haircut if you wish.
My child can't attend the event, can I still get their shoes for them?
We understand that there may be situations that prevent your child from attending but to maintain fairness, we require that your child be present at the time of the event. No exceptions.
¿A qué hora empieza el evento?
La distribución de zapatos comienza a las 10:00AM, pero le sugerimos llegar antes para conseguir un buen lugar en la fila y evitar el calor.
¿Cómo consigue mi hijo un par de zapatos gratis?
1. Para que su hijo reciba su par de zapatos gratis, debe estar presente y en la fila en el momento en que comience la distribución.

2. Antes de entrar a nuestras instalaciones, se sentará en una silla donde uno de nuestros voluntarios le lavará y secará los pies —tal como hizo Jesús con los discípulos— y le pondrá calcetines nuevos.
¿Cómo puede mi hijo obtener su corte de pelo gratuito?
1. Tan pronto como salga de nuestro edificio de distribución de calzado, podrá ver la sala de corte de pelo al otro lado del edificio.

2. Le rogamos que haga fila y consulte las opciones de corte de pelo disponibles para su hijo.

3. Antes de entrar a la sala, nuestro voluntario le preguntará qué corte de pelo desea para su hijo y le colocará una pegatina con un número para que los estilistas puedan verla.
¿Puedo pedir un peinado personalizado que no aparezca en la lista de opciones?
Aunque nos gustaría poder atender solicitudes de cortes de pelo personalizados, solo ofrecemos las opciones incluidas en nuestra lista; esto permite a nuestros estilistas ayudar a la mayor cantidad posible de niños dentro del tiempo asignado.
